By taking this course, I will be able to:
Evaluate the role agriculture plays in my everyday life.
Explore careers related to agriculture
Develop and calculate feed programs based on nutritional needs based on weight, health, and species.
Demonstrate safe handling procedures for livestock animals.
Identify common breeds of domesticated animals.
Correctly label, identify, and describe the function of the reproductive, respiratory, circulatory, digestive, and muscular systems.
Calculate animal units that are used by the USDA for small to large scale operations.
Use and understand basic veterinary terms.
Perform basic veterinary technician skills including, but not limited to shots, sutures, etc.
Recommend a biosecurity program for different types of farms.
Evaluate USDA inspection regulations used at local meat lockers.
Analyze parasites/diseases among livestock species.
Defend a “hot button” topic associated with animal welfare.
